Culprits of Abhaya case behind bars for
20 years
Finally the seven month old trail came to
an end giving a justifying verdict. In relation with the case of Abhaya who was
eventually kidnapped and raped by 2 cab drivers were sentenced to 20 years of
Jail by the RangaReddy district High Court. The Cyberabad Metropolitan sessions
justice confirmed that the accused Vedicharla Satish (28) and Nemmadi
Venkateswarlu were sentenced to be behind the bars for 20 years.
As per the Criminal Amendment Act 2013
under section 376 D, 20 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1000 and another
3 years for the crime of kidnapping along with a fine of 1000 extra. As per the
Nirbhaya Act all the tenure of imprisonment is to be implied in at-a-time.
PLOT
It so happened on 18th October 2013, Abhaya reached the
circle of Madhapur near Mind Space around 8.45 pm, where the cab drivers Satish
and Venkateswarlu convinced her to drop at her destination. Later the duo has
moved towards Medak district. They took her into private school near the outer
of Kollur and allegedly raped her. As per the reports from the police, they
brought her back in the same car to Goulidoddi around 1.30 am and left her near
a guest house.
The Cyberabad police who have taken the
case very seriously could circle the culprits and produced them before the
court along with the evidence. After the announcement of the verdict, the
culprits were moved to the Charlapalli jail.
